Press release

Galerie Allen is pleased to present LaŽtitia Badaut Haussmann's third solo exhibition at the gallery titled after Marianne Faithfull's song, The Ballad of Lucy Jordan. Originally written by Shel Silverstein, writer and children's poet, the song unravels the disillusionment and mental deterioration of a suburban housewife. Faithfull's sonic rendition and self-portrayal in the music video sets the structure of Badaut Haussmann's exhibition addressing resistant architecture in cinema for female characters and her particular interest in two films: Maitresse by Barbet Schroeder (1976) and SAFE by Todd Haynes (1995). Deepening her investigations into domesticity, functional objects and society?s conventions this exhibition creates an installed environment hosting new works in a variety of forms including a wall painting protocol, a sound piece and sculptures constructed for a living room.
