Daniel Turner
Daniel Turner travaille principalement dans le domaine de la sculpture, créant ou manipulant des matériaux, des objets et des environnements pour leur donner des formes tactiles ou atmosphériques. Ces formes se caractérisent souvent par une réponse spécifique à un environnement dans le cadre d'un ensemble de processus contrôlés. Cette approche a permis à Turner de baser la forme sur la transposition, en préservant un lien sensoriel avec des lieux géographiques, des liens culturels et des contacts humains. Ces éléments sont présents dans ses œuvres antérieures, où une salle d'attente entière est moulée en une série de barres solides, un établissement psychiatrique est poli jusqu'à devenir une tache sombre contre un mur d'exposition, ou une cafétéria est dissoute sur toute la surface d'un sol.
Daniel Turner est né en 1983 à Portsmouth, en Virginie, et vit et travaille actuellement à New York. Le travail de l'artiste a fait l'objet de nombreuses expositions individuelles, notamment au Musée des Arts Contemporains Grand-Hornu, à Hornu, en Belgique, à la Kunsthalle Basel, à Bâle, en Suisse, et à la Chinati Foundation, à Marfa, au Texas.
Parmi les expositions collectives auxquelles Turner a participé, figurent celles du Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, Paris, France ; du Palais de Tokyo, Paris, France ; du Musée de l'Orangerie à Paris, France ; du Musée Dhondt-Dhaenens, Deurle, Belgique ; du Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, Japon ; du Pinchuk Art Centre, Kiev, Ukraine ; du Kunstmuseum Thun, Thoune, Suisse ; et du Museen Haus Esters und Haus Lange, Krefeld, Allemagne. Les œuvres de Turner font partie des collections du Kunstmuseum Basel, du Centre Pompidou, du Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, du Frac Bretagne, du S.M.A.K. Gand, du Musée des Arts Contemporains Grand-Hornu, de l'ICA Miami, entre autres.
